Laguna Art Museum- Feb.04

The Laguna Art Museum, nestled right on P.C.H in the heart of Laguna Beach, California, just finished up a project with Chad that features his artwork on a special edition T-shirt. All students K-12 who visit the museum will be given a shirt to help promote art in today's youth. The original artwork will be on display in the museum showing the process involved from the first sketch to the final piece. The original painting measures 36" x 36".

 

Laguna Beach Street Walk

Dec. 5, 2003 - The first Friday in December of each year the main streets Laguna Beach, California temporarily shut down and the whole town comes out to celebrate. Chad was there for the event at Bordz surfshop to do a live painting in order to help raise money for the LB surf team. Through out the evening he painted in the front window as on lookers watched and made bids for the final piece.

 

Ocean Institute- Fall 03

The newly designed and built Ocean Institute, located on the harbor in Dana Point, California teaches and promotes ocean awareness. This was celebrated by bringing in people who deal with different aspects of the ocean and it's beaches. The festival featured hula dancers, surfboard shapers, and many exhibits on marine life. Artist Chad Carothers was on attendance to demonstrate the techniques of hand painting surfboards. Starting with a blank board ,he had to paint very quickly being outside under the sun, where the paints dry almost immediately. When finished Chad had created a full underwater scene put on display for everyone to see.

 

Project Live- Aug.2, 2003

A celebration of music, motorsports, skateboarding, fashion, and art. The event took place at the Fairplex in Pomona, California on August 2, 2003. Chad was asked to create a 10' x 15' mural as crowds gathered and watched, while listening to musical acts such as The Pharcyde and Beat Junkeez.

 

Ron Jon's -Aug.2, 2002

During the U.S Open of surfing at Huntington Beach, California, Ron Jon surfshop hosted a list of events during the weeks' festivities. Among the pro surfer autograph sessions and musical acts Ron Jon's had artist Chad Carothers show up to paint a fully custom surfboard. Starting with a blank board, he painted throughout the day and answered questions for curious on lookers as they watched the transformation take place. When finished the surfboard was raffled off to one lucky winner.

 

Wells Fargo Bank- 01

After the tragic events that took place on 9/11/01 Chad teamed up with Wells Fargo Bank to create a one of a kind tribute to those lost. In an attempt to raise money for those in need Chad donated his time and abilities creating the 9.11 tribute surfboard. Once completed the board was put on display at Wells Fargo, located in San Clemente, California, where raffle tickets were sold for five dollars a piece. In the end the board brought in over $2500 which was all donated to help the victims' families.  Pictured-Chad along with the winner and bank manager.

 

Ron Jon Surf Shop- Nov.19, 2000

Ron Jon surf shop, located at The Block in Orange, California, hosted it's 2nd Annual Surf & Skate Art Exhibit. Art pieces from students of all ages were displayed throughout the store and judged on their particular category. The winner of that competition won a custom hand painted Lost surfboard by artist Chad Carothers. He was there to meet the winner and recreate a version of the winning piece on the surfboard as people watched.
